It's been a long time since we saw each other. So we decided to make a big Open Day at Orion . Besides, we have a wonderful occasion to organise a party! J

is a good day to celebrate Birthday of Head of Orion Children's Community.
It's hard to believe, but Masha Pichugina , Head of Orion and a devoted foster mother of 4 children is going to be 25 !
We've already prepared a wonderful entertainment for you!
11.00 -12.00 – reception with refreshments
12.00 – opening ceremony and a welcoming speech of Masha
12.15 –14.30 - entertainment programme with toasts pauses
The programme includes:
- A dance performed by smaller children
- «Snow White », a theatre production in English
- «Lessons for daughters », a guest performance from Kitezh kids in Russian
- Musical performance
- A dance from Jura and Katya
14.30 – BBQ and outdoor activities
As for the gifts …
The best gift for Masha and all the residents of Orion is communications for our new foster family house. To provide heating, water and gas supply we need 140 000 roubles.

On the 14-th of February we celebrated Maslenitsa at Orion. This originally Pagan then Orthodox tradition marks the end of winter and thus the much longed for beginning of Spring. The celebrations began with Katya and her son Petya providing a puppet show with a few Chastushki (traditional Russian funny poems) and songs thrown in by some of the younger members of Orion. Then it was outside, in minus 10 of snow, for the sledging competition, a "dashing each other off a bench" competition and a jet the sweet blindfolded game. Pasha had built the traditional 12 foot high scarecrow or Chuchelo which, for the finale, was doused in petrol and set alight much to the delight of all. This is a type of ritual cleansing, (rather like Ivan Kupala in June) during which all bad thoughts are destroyed along with the doll, the turn of Spring thus becoming a time for spiritual reawakening. The celebrations were rounded off with everyone eating their fill of delicious pancakes, symbolically the sun of Spring, made by Anton and Masha accompanied by sweet cream, wonderful jam, and, of course, more...
We are glad to inform you that Orion has become the winner of competition "Cultural and social project of the year 2009" conducted by "Initiatives of XXI century" journal.
We began to make a roof in one of our houses, but in cause of very cold weather the works are delayed a bit.
We want to thank Janna, a speech therapist from Moscow, who helped Irina to reveal her mistekes and showed how to eliminate them. We hope Irina's will is strong enough to learn to speak properly. We wish her good luck!
We were invited to english-american school. We had a lot of fun by swimming in the pool, theatre playing Cinderella and having conversations.
A new minibus appered in Orion - Renault trafic. We are very happy, because now we have more opportunities to participate in educating and developmental events with more children at once!
A new roof upon our catering was made. Gas supply in Dmitry's house was finished and now it is warm there. We thank our friends who helped us to do all this things.
A family of farmers have come to live in Orion and to be occupied with farming program. We are glad to meet Zhenya and Nadya with their three children!
We were happy to meet friends from English-American school in Moscow. We were working together and then had bbq. All the children were very excited and had a lot of communication and conversations. Some of them changed e-mail addresses for having a penpal.
We set English version of Orionfuture.org website!
We had very interestig trip to Moscow conservatory for listening music of Beethoven, Chopin, Grieg and Rakhmaninov.
